
Lecture 1 and Assignment 1

For a long time, I have noticed the frost and ice that form at the edge of the refrigerator. This ice not only takes up space for food but also takes more electricity to cool down the temperature. One night, while I were asleep, an unknown being from the future contacts you in your dreams. I learn that, a few years from now, humans have developed a device that can easily melt the frost.
Because of the stream in the air, it is inevitable to prevent stream get into refrigerator when people open it. To clean up the ice, you need to turn off the refrigerator and that may cause the decay of food. And even if you clean up the ice, it may only take days to form a new layer. The current methods to clean the ice take a long time and have to turn off the refrigerator. The objective is to clean the ice easily in a short time period. My goal for this project is to design a device to melt the ice in a short time without turn refrigerator.

Benchmarking
For some of the good refrigerator, they have designed a cool wind technology to avoid frost. Instead of simply cooling down the temperature, it places two fans inside to create a circular convection of wind to get avoid water steam. A vaporizer is placed outside of a fan with the wind exit. The frost will form on the vaporizer rather than inside of the refrigerator. Another method is to place a heating wire under the inner surface of the refrigerator to melt the frost.

These are the three ideas that I came up with.
